A supportive individual, such as a mentor, works closely with a child to form a relationship by providing direction, support, and encouragement in order to nurture the child’s positive and healthy development and thus help them grow up by becoming confident, respected, and responsible. Mentoring gives a youngster the certainty that someone cares about them and that they are not alone in dealing with the obstacles of everyday life.
Local volunteers who are professionals or qualified to be mentors and role models for the children are ideal. A strong desire to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children is essential.
